Expanded third-party management

30.09.2014

After the Jüngerhans shipping company had some time ago assumed the technical management for the two heavy lift vessels MV "INDUSTRIAL CHIEF" and "INDUSTRIAL CHALLENGER", another heavy lift vessel was added a few weeks ago.

The longtime charterer Intermarine had with MV "INDUSTRIAL CHALLENGER" and MV "INDUSTRIAL CHIEF" already transferred two former Juengerhans-Vessels back into the technical management of the Jüngerhans shipping company. The vessels hat been build under the shipping company's names MV "DIANA J" and MV "HARUN J" at the shipyard Estaleiros Navais de Viana do Castello. The 8,000 DWT tweendecker are equipped with two electro-hydraulically operated deck cranes having a lifting capacity of max. 200 tons. The type MAK 6M43 main engine produces a performance of 5,400 kw generating a speed of 16.0 knots. After the vessel was without interruption and exclusively chartered to the heavy-lift shipping company Industrial Maritime Carriers which is part of
the Intermarine Group, the sale to Intermarine was completed in Mai of 2005 to henceforth be able to operate her under the U.S. flag.

After this the Jüngerhans shipping company had assumed the technical management for another heavy lift vessel. The vessel, at a length of 168.15 meters and a beam of 22.90 meters with a draft of 9.50 meters, is provided with a lifting capacity of 18.700 tons (dwt). It was built at the Chinese Quinshan shipyard and is equipped with flexible tween decks. Two heavy lift cranes mounted on the port side having a reach of 6-18 meters provide a maximum lifting capacity of 400 tons, which can by means of a special beam be combined to up to 800 tons. An additional crane on the starboard side of the forecastle provides up to 120 tons of lifting capacity. The type MAK 7L58/64 main engine having a power output of 9,800 KW generates a speed of 17.4 knots.

"The special challenge with this assignment was that we had just a few days lead time for taking over the vessel in the port of Dubai," said Herm Jüngerhans. But the team of Nautical and Technical Inspection had all necessary processes very well structured, so that we were due to good preparation indeed successful in performing the takeover within a very short time.
